Job Definition

This position presents a ‘hybridised’ set of duties and responsibilities that have ‘evolved’ over many years. It calls for a legally-astute technician and tactician. From a technical perspective, the inherent technical makeup of the individual is described in the criteria below. From a tactical perspective, the new incumbent should be highly intuitive with the ability to ‘read a situation’ and institute decisions and actions that will result in positive outcomes for all parties.

Inherent Criteria

Listed below are the suggested criteria weightings for the position under consideration. Weightings are measured on a scale of 1-5, with 5 representing critical importance and 1 representing little importance.

Criteria  with  [ Weighting ]

A minimum of LLB   [ 5 ]

Admitted Attorney  [ 5 ]

At least 5 years legal work experience gained in the commercial, manufacturing and trading environment  [ 5 ]

Track record: Technically articulate with strong business presence.  Legally tough when required, yet comprising when legal resolve that will benefit organisation is reachable through a softer approach  [ 5 ]

Meticulous in preparing agreements and legal case work  [ 5 ]

Knowledgeable and legally astute to the extent of only calling for external legal support/opinion by exception  [ 5 ]

Knowledgeable and up to date regarding the following pieces of  legislation   [ 4 ]
